Description:- Carinda is a small outback country village near Walgett in N/W NSW which is famous for two things. In 1983 it was the venue for David Bowie’s film clip for his hit “Lets Dance” featuring the Carinda Pub. The annual David Bowie festival brings fans from hundreds of miles around. Also some wag from the public service accidentally had the Quirindi police station built at Carinda by mistake. A police station suitable for a town of 6000 was therefor built in a one cop town of 150 people. The local cop was not complaining when he discovered he had a two storey police station with a complete CIB office All for himself . |
